Welcome to TinyTopia! Start building your civilization.

How to Play TinyTopia

Game Basics

TinyTopia is a city-building simulation where you manage three key resources:

  • Food - Needed for population growth
  • Materials - Used to construct buildings
  • Knowledge - Unlocks new eras and advances

Your goal is to grow your civilization through different eras by balancing resource production.

Population & Citizen Happiness

Population grows automatically when:

  • You have at least 10 food
  • You have available population capacity (build houses)
  • Every 10 ticks, a new citizen may join if these conditions are met

Citizens have moods that affect productivity:

  • Happy 😊 - 120% productivity
  • Content 😐 - 100% productivity
  • Tired 😫 - 80% productivity
  • Unhappy 😠 - 60% productivity

Click on any citizen to see their status! Each citizen needs rest and resources to stay happy.

Buildings

Building Cost Function
House 🏠 10 Materials Adds 5 population capacity
Farm 🌾 5 Materials Produces 2 food per tick
Workshop 🔨 15 Materials Produces 1 material per tick
School 🏫 20 Materials Produces 1 knowledge per tick

Controls

Select a building type, then click on the grid to place it.

Set focus for your citizens:

  • Farm Focus - Citizens prioritize food production
  • Build Focus - Citizens prioritize material production
  • Learn Focus - Citizens prioritize knowledge production

Features & Events

The world contains natural features that provide tiny resources:

  • Forests 🌲 - Provide tiny amount of materials (0.05/tick)
  • Mountains ⛰️ - Provide tiny amount of knowledge (0.03/tick)
  • Lakes 🌊 - Provide tiny amount of food (0.08/tick)

Many random events will affect your civilization:

  • Weather - Rain boosts farms, drought reduces yields
  • Trade - Caravans bring materials, festivals provide food
  • Innovations - Workshops and schools may gain efficiency
  • Challenges - Food spoilage, tool breakages can occur

Beware of major disasters that can damage your city:

  • Earthquakes 💥 - Destroy random buildings
  • Floods 🌊 - Destroy farms and reduce food
  • Fires 🔥 - Destroy houses and workshops

Civilization Advancement

Your civilization will advance through these eras as you gather knowledge:

  • Stone Age - Starting era
  • Bronze Age - Unlocks at 100 knowledge (20% production bonus)
  • Iron Age - Unlocks at 300 knowledge (50% production bonus)
  • Medieval - Unlocks at 700 knowledge (80% production bonus)
  • Renaissance - Unlocks at 1500 knowledge (120% production bonus)

Victory is achieved when your knowledge reaches 7,500 (5x Renaissance threshold)!
